Yorkshire connection

Mark Lindley‑Highfield of Ballumbie Castle has family connections to Yorkshire on both sides of his family.

On his paternal side, his grandmother Phyllis Jenkinson was born in Swinton. Her father, Percival Haden Jenkinson, descended from the Haden family through both parents. The family’s links to Swinton include John Haden of Holywell House, whose will benefited several members of the Haden family.

On his maternal side, Mark descends from Sir Miles Stapleton, KG, a Founder Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Garter. His documented pedigree to the Founder Knight has been formally enrolled in the archives of the Friends of St George and Descendants of the Knights of the Garter at the College of St George, Windsor. The Stapleton family were of Bedale in North Yorkshire.

This line also connects Mark to Kingston‑upon‑Hull, through the marriage of Sir Miles Stapleton’s great‑grandson to Katherine de la Pole, granddaughter of Sir Michael de la Pole, 2nd Earl of Suffolk - all of whom are amongst Mark's direct ancestors.

Mark includes a Yorkshire rose in his Coat of Arms to reflect these family connections.
